Thriving Through The Night

After writing Thriving In Exile I felt great enthusiasm to build, plant, bless and pray during a season of cultural exile. My business partners and I followed the "build" mandate and worked to expand our business in several new directions. I took a leadership role in my church. Stacy and I even purchased a new house. It was an exciting time.

Then the darkness set in. It's hard to describe, but I felt a paralysis that I'd never encountered that was not really explainable by my circumstances. It was a tough time and I'm not sure how I would have made it through without Stacy's steady encouragement throughout. Part of the process was diving back into Jeremiah and the letter to exiles. So I emailed the idea to my buddy Mike in late May 2013...

Me: I have a book idea: Thriving Through The Night. Maybe I can take my recent experience and help others while charting the way forward, or maybe not.

Mike: Feel like you're ready for that? Written anything yet?

Me: No. just came to me this morning. I think i could write it over a month or so and I think it might be good for me. is it too dark?

Mike: Definitely a good process for you to write it. When do you see your friend the counselor?

I saw my friend the counselor and I wrote the book. It turned out to be a good part of the "process" for me, and hopefully for others who are facing dark nights of the soul.
