Psalms in the Night -- Psalm 42

This message was first presented in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in July 2023, as part of a series at Big House Church on the Psalms. I provide an overview of the Psalms as well as what is the most common theme in Psalms, what I call "Psalms in the Night." Then, we review one of the Psalms in the Night -- Psalm 42

Final Prezi transition:

Lyrics of song I wrote based on Psalm 42:

Song in the night

(E A C#m B)

My soul thirsts for God
For the living God
As the deer pants for the water
So my soul thirsts for you
2x
My soul thirsts for you…

(Chorus)

(E B C#m A)
And His song will be with me in the night
This is my prayer to the God of my life
When they say, "Where is your God?"
I say why so downcast O my soul?
(2x)

(Last time last line)
I say why so downcast put your hope in God
(I will praise Him)
Put your hope in God
(I will praise Him)
(repeat)

(Verse two)
(E A C#m B)
Why despair my soul
Fed by tears alone
As the deer pants for the water
I pour out my soul to you
(Close)

(E B C#m A)
This is my song in the night
(3x)
Your song in me

About. From my meditations in psalm 42 where the psalmist charts not less than five dramatic swings of his emotional roller coaster, changing course at times mid sentence. Welcome to my world circa summer 2018. Yet His song will be with me in the night! 7 /9/18
